How To Make The Most Of Your Garage Storage Space
What do you have hiding in your garage? If you answered a “car” then well done, you’re one of a few who do. According to research, over 25% of people with a garage that can hold up to TWO cars, don’t park ANY vehicles inside.
Storage or Parking?
For many homeowners, the garage is used for storage, and that’s the kind of storage that stores junk such as, old children’s toys, christmas decorations, garden supplies etc… For those of you who like to leave their car in the sun, snow, ice, rain and any other horrible weather conditions the UK likes to throw at us, it’s important to note that a vehicle in a garage is less likely to be stolen or broken into.
So, the all important question is this, what could possibly be more important to store in the garage than your vehicle? Take a look at some of the following items homeowners store in their garage instead of their vehicle:
- Bins, yes bins and recycling ones too!
- Car tyres
- Christmas Decorations
- Painting tools
- Gardening equipment
- Freezer or an extra fridge
- Camping gear
- Sun loungers
the list goes on…
After reading the list and realising you’re the guilty one, the first thing you need to do is go into your garage and take stock of EVERYTHING. Think long and hard about whether you need it and if so should it be stored in there. If you still have items in there that you need to keep and can’t fit them in your house, then now would be a good time to think about investing in overhead storage.
As you look up you will see there is so much potential to install overhead storage racks. Although it’s not great for everyday use, it’s a great place to store those items that come out once or a few times a year.
It’s not just your ceiling that leaves room for storage, take a look at your walls! You could install a slatwall system to hang your items up. You can add hanging racks, shelves, bins and other wall storage appliances to store your items.
